TEAM RULES

PLAYER CONDUCT: Proper respect of all coaches, board members, adults, and players is expected of each player. As a player, you represent the Farmington Rockets Organization. Profanity, derogatory language or any form of disrespect will result in disciplinary actions. Fighting or any unnecessary aggression towards another player will result in disciplinary actions. Remember your coaches and teammates are working with you. Listening attentively to your coaches and willingness to do whatever the coach asks of you is what makes for a good football player. Keep up with your schoolwork and maintain good grades. Proper conduct is expected of you at all practices and games.

ATTENDANCE: Arrive on time for practice and games. On time means 15 minutes before required time of arrival. To be counted in attendance, you must participate in practice. Come to practice prepared to work and play. Any player, who comes to practice without their helmet, pads, athletic cup, or mouthpiece, will be counted as an unexcused absence. Being injured and not participating in practice is an excused absence. Being hurt and not participating in practice is an unexcused absence. Coaches will determine the difference between being hurt and being injured. Being sent home for disciplinary reasons is an unexcused absence. Missing practice due to illness or other reasons, please have a parent call the coach or bring a written excuse to the next practice.

PRACTICE: Practice will be Monday through Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for weeks prior to the first game. The first two weeks will be dedicated to physical conditioning and drills. The rest of the time will be in full pads. After the first game, practice will be Tuesday through Friday with some Saturday walk through practices. There may be some Monday team chalk talks for 1 hour. Every week new skills are learned, problem areas corrected, and new plays learned. We practice in the rain, but never in severe inclement weather. Players must show up at the practice field and the unit director will determine to practice or not to practice. Players must be bring your own water to practice.

HOME CONDITIONING: Players must drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday. Your body needs to be hydrated. Players need a high carbohydrate diet. Each player must complete 20 push-ups and 20 crunches each morning and at bedtime. You should always stretch your muscles after every practice. You need do this for your body to be able to perform the physical demands of football.

GAME ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible to play in your first game, you must meet these requirements: All fees and forms must be turned in. Have 5 days of physical conditioning, 5 days in full pads, and be in attendance and participate in 4 practices the week of your first game. You must also make your weight limit. For the following games, you must participate in a minimum of 3 practices each week of the game. Missing 2 practices in a week that are not excused by the coach will result in not being able to play in that game. You must be at that game to play in next week’s game. Missing 1 practice a week for 3 weeks or more will result in being unable to play in the next game.

GAME PARTICIPATION: Each player is required to participate in 5 plays per half, a total of 10 plays per game. All other playing time is earned by performance in practice. On game day, each player must be at the field at the start of the game before your scheduled game. Each player must weigh in at half time of that game. Players arriving after weigh in may have to sit out the 1st and 2nd quarters.

PLAYERS EQUIPMENT: Players will be issued the following equipment: Helmet, shoulder pads, thigh, knee, hip/tail pads, practice pants, game jerseys and game pants. Each player is required to supply the following equipment: Athletic cup, 2 mouth pieces that attach to the face mask, give one to your coach for back up, and football cleats that are stitched or molded construction without rivets and no less than 8 cleats. Also, suggested are forearm pads, rib protectors and elbow sleeves if needed. Equipment is to be worn only at practices and games, and must be kept clean and cared for properly.
